Mario Garcia aka Bboy Unique's Biography.

Mario Garcia Aka Bboy UniqueThe day I first saw bboyin was when I was 13 years old at my Jr. High School dance. I honestly was way to shy to dance and always watched everyone else. I then saw bboyin and said hey I can do that and I want to learn. Sadly no one actually got together and practiced or even brought up bboyin, so I didn't get the chance to learn, what the other kids were doing at that time.

Bboyin never came up again until my sophomore year in High School but this time it wasn't me watching some kids break I was the one gettin down on the floor. See what had happened was my friend asked if I knew how to break and I said no but I have seen videos and some kids do it before, so he said you should try it out, I have no idea what got into me because if you don't recall I was the shy guy that didn't dance and I mean ever, on top of all that I just started at this new school so didn't really know to many people, maybe that was what helped me have the courage, who knows. Anyways, so what I did was, a really basic indian step to a 6 step and somehow managed to combine that into a backspin, I also think I threw in the worm somewhere ha-ha yes I know the worm, I was 15 ok the worm was cool at the time ha-ha. Well after I did my little bboyin set everyone clapped and applauded, I didn't even think anyone was watching. I was asked over and over again to do what I did, and after that night I knew I wanted to become a bboy.Mario Top Rockin

So I researched everything I could about bboyin, I even got lucky and met a girl that just moved to my school around the time I did and she asked me if I know about Mr. Wiggles and I was like who, ha-ha, she told me all about him and that her older brother dances his style, she brought me a video tape of his called "Mr. Wiggles Session 2 Floats and Glides" I was so amazed and even more motivated to dance, I watched that tape over and over until I learned everything I could, I would literally skip my lunch and go to my schools gym and dance every day, gliding up and down the basketball court.

I must have motivated or impressed people because before I knew it everyone of my friends and even people I didn't know were in there asking me to teach them.

I finally found tutorial videos on actual break dancing not poppin. So on my 16th birthday my mom bought me the whole set of tapes I found online and a boom box that I could take to school, man was I happy, I went straight to the TV. And put in the videos. I learned every move on each tape, I still practiced everyday at school and came home and completed my homework right away if I had any; and danced until it was time to go to bed.

Mario Doin CicisAfter 6 months of training myself I was approached by one of my schools dance teachers and she asked me if I would do a little solo set with her dance team, she said it would only be about a 16 count. At the time I had no idea what counts even meant, but I said sure. That was my very first actual performance and it was in front of the whole school during an assembly, which happened 2 days in a row.

The set I did for the show started with me running from the side line of the center court to the middle of the court and I front flipped into the circle and went right into a 6 step, I did 1 windmill, to a backspin and I popped back up to my feet, and walked off the court so they could continue their dance. Everyone loved it, as simple as it was.
